March has been a great Quilting month

(This is the result of 40 hours of quilting time)

There are still 11 days left (as I write this) in the month of March and I am already thrilled with its quiltiness! Earlier in the month I was extremely fortunate to be able to spend a couple of evenings with Robyn Pandolph. Robyn was our guild's - The London Friendship Quilter's Guild - featured speaker. I used one of my very few vacation days so that I could take Robyn Pandolph's workshop on Needle Turn Appliqué. Definately worth the sacrifice!!!
Robyn is so sweet, encouraging and warm. I'll post photos of that project another day.
I also managed to start and COMPLETE a wall hanging that I have donated to a Silent Auction Fundraiser for My Sister's Place (London Free Press Article , community newsletter feature). I really did cut into those special fabrics that I have hoarded against any future failure of the world cotton crop.

Here are some close ups of the Chinese Characters Embroidered on the setting squares:
Beautiful
Peaceful Harmony
Friend
Celestial, Sky, Heaven

And because I have been told there is life outside of quilting, My honey and I attended the local Orchid Show. Absolutely Stunning Flowers. I had to share a few of my favourites:

I bought a baby just like these dark orange orchids. It will be 6 months however before it will produce a bloom.

  4. I too was lucky enough to meet Robyn and see her work here in Houston as she was the guest at an initiation meeting of a new applique group.

BTW, her display quilts were stolen here in Galveston last week - from two trunks in her car! She is sick, I'm sure. No word from police as to whether they have turned up. So sad.

She is such a sweet and gentle person.

  5. Hi Linda,
I think sharing our blogs is a great idea. Your oriental quilt is awesome!!! My son just has to see it. It's the big thing for him right now. He recently had me make him an oriental fabric quilt :0)
